Marty Augustine: Crafting a New Sound with ‘Singularity’

In a Midwest city better known for its jazz legacies and slow-smoked barbeque tradition, Marty Augustine is chasing something faster, deeper, and more ephemeral—something like a pulse you can only feel when the lights go out and the bass kicks in.

His new album, Singularity, is a 15-track electronic odyssey that speaks in a language of trance, sonic texture, and tightly wound emotion. And while it’s steeped in the melodic sensibilities of classic Trance and early-2000s electronic dance music, it’s unmistakably personal. Like Augustine himself, the album is composed, intentional, and quietly intense.

“Singularity is about convergence,” says Marty Augustine. “It’s the point where emotion, rhythm, and imagination meet. I wanted to create something that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking—a tribute to the roots of Trance and EDM, but also a personal evolution in my sound.”

Each track on Singularity plays with contrast: digital precision meets emotional rawness, euphoric highs follow meditative lows. Rather than sticking to rigid genre formulas, Augustine weaves in a variety of electronic music elements, ambient textures, and even cinematic scoring worthy of being a featured movie soundtrack. In short, he has created a body of work that rewards full-album listening.

“There’s an emotion to it,” he explains. “This isn’t just a playlist of club tracks. It’s more introspective. It’s for late-night drives, headphones at 3 a.m., or just zoning out and letting the sound carry you as you fall into a moment.”

For Augustine, electronic music isn’t about escapism—it’s about presence. His creative process begins with feeling: a mood, a mental snapshot, a memory. From there, he builds sonically, layering synths, rhythms, and effects like brushstrokes in a digital painting.

There’s an essence of reflection running through the album, a sense that each track is not just made for the dancefloor but for the internal world of the listener. It’s trance music with a human heartbeat—technical in execution, emotional in delivery.

“I’m always thinking about moments in time,” Augustine says. “The way it stretches and contracts in a song. I love the idea that a single note can feel infinite in the right context. That’s what I feel my music does best—it warps reality, even if just for a moment.”

Throughout Singularity, Augustine experiments with sonic tension and release. Tracks swell with shimmering synths, only to dissolve into ambient washes or staccato percussion that pulls you back into rhythm. It’s a balancing act between immersion and propulsion—music that’s designed to be felt in both headphones and on a sound system powerful enough to shake your ribcage.

And while Augustine is clearly drawing from the blueprint of early Trance legends, his interpretation feels contemporary. This isn’t revivalism; it’s reclamation.

“I didn’t want to make a retro album. I wanted to make something that carried the spirit of that era forward,” he says. “Singularity is about connecting those emotional frequencies from the past with where we are now.”

With Singularity now live across all major platforms, Augustine is already working on the next collection of digital emotional invocation, which he hopes will be bigger and better. But for now, he’s content to let the album find its way into the world.

“The music isn’t all about me,” he says. “It’s about the listener also. If any of my songs become the backdrop to someone’s moment—that’s everything I hoped for.”
