Watch Out, World! TommyG’s Coming to NYC!

Katy, Texas, might seem a world away from the bright lights of Broadway and the electrifying energy of New York City, but for 13-year-old Thomas, better known as TommyG, that distance is about to shrink dramatically. This summer is shaping up to be one for the books as TommyG prepares to embark on a whirlwind journey filled with music, dance, and the kind of experiences that could launch a star.

This summer, TommyG is hitting the Big Apple TWICE! First, the Joffrey Ballet School’s Musical Theater Summer Intensive in June, followed by the 4th Annual Come Together Festival in July, organized by Kids Rock for Kids (KRFK).

TommyG’s journey into music began in the most classic of ways: school talent shows! Back in primary school, he discovered a real love for singing and dove right in. “I started showing a lot of passion for singing and participated in talent shows at school,” TommyG explains, “also volunteering to sing in assembly at school as well.” When COVID hit, he asked to take singing lessons, further honing his skills. The real turning point came when he joined a band and began performing at various venues. Requests to sing covers at events like Katy Central Green’s Back to School event, the Bobby Reed Show in Brazoria, the Opry in Alvin, Texas, and even a Chinese New Year celebration, followed. It was clear that TommyG was destined for the stage.

There are many individuals that played a key role in shaping my musical path, ” TommyG shared, “But the most important individuals are my dad because he helped me with a lot of things in my career. Also my singing teachers helped me become the singer that I am today because of all the things that they taught me. The last individual is my sister because she was the person who inspired me to sing because she would always sing in the car and that’s when I realized that this is the career I want to pursue.

Back to the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in NYC. This isn’t just any summer program; it’s an intensive, immersive experience designed to develop well-rounded, professional-caliber performers. Selected after a successful audition, TommyG will be diving headfirst into dance, acting, singing, and audition preparation, receiving top-tier instruction every step of the way.

Each week at Joffrey’s, TommyG and his fellow students will be immersed in the worlds of some of Broadway’s biggest hits. They’ll be learning songs and choreography inspired by “The Lion King,” “Boop,” “Smash,” and more. It’s a chance to not only refine his existing talents but also to stretch and grow in new and exciting ways.

Then in July, TommyG will take part in the 4th Annual Come Together Festival, organized by Kids Rock for Kids (KRFK). This is where things get really interesting. TommyG has been selected to be part of a Global Band, bringing together young musicians from around the world. While the full details of the band – including its name and other members – are still under wraps, one thing’s for sure: this is a huge opportunity for TommyG to connect with other talented young musicians and perform on a global stage. For now, he confirms, the band will be performing covers, but the possibilities are endless.

This is all happening against the backdrop of TommyG’s burgeoning solo career. He has released original music, including the upbeat single “Good Life Lovin‘,” available on Spotify, and the music video for “SIO” on YouTube. He’s also a member of the kids band Z Alpha.

When asked about the inspiration behind “Good Life Lovin‘,” TommyG shared, “The inspiration behind Good Life Lovin’ was being able to experience the freedom of summer and be with the people that mean the most to you in your life and care about you. I hope that listeners are happy and excited for what the future brings like summer for example.”

From the dance floors at Joffrey Ballet School to the buzz of the Come Together Festival and the down-home country nights in Texas—this summer promises to be a wild ride. TommyG is embracing every opportunity to learn, connect, and share the music that drives him. You can feel the heart he puts into every note, every step, every performance.
