A Cry into the Void: Burning Plains Drop New Metal Track “Into The Violet Sky”

Sometimes, the fiercest battles are not fought on a physical battlefield, but within the depths of human consciousness. This state of existential crisis is precisely what Ukrainian metal band Burning Plains explores in their latest single, “Into The Violet Sky”.

The track immerses the listener in a moment of absolute collapse – a point where the pillars of reality, whether they be faith in higher powers, authority, or a certain future, crumble to dust. The lyrics “When your gods betray you, when your hopes expire” serve as the jumping-off point for a journey into the void, where one is left alone with their own despair.

The central symbol of the song, the “violet sky,” represents a metaphorical dimension of the mind – a place of refuge when reality becomes unbearable. Rather than signaling defeat, this state embodies transformation: the moment when, in the absence of external saviors, you are forced to become your own foundation.

Musically, the composition is built on heavy guitar riffs and a dense rhythm section that creates a palpable sense of pressure. The vocal delivery, rooted in raw screaming, acts as the primary conduit for emotional pain. It is the voice of a mind being consumed by shadows. When logic fails and words are exhausted, only this visceral cry remains – the only way to articulate the unutterable.

A haunting coincidence marked the song’s creation. The vocals were recorded on the very day the legendary Ozzy Osbourne passed away. This somber timing inadvertently shifted the track’s energy, infusing the chorus with a classic metal atmosphere and an added layer of gravity.

“This is a song about the moment it feels like the whole world has turned against you,” the band comments. “When your supports are destroyed, yet you still take the hit. Even when surrounded by darkness, a person is capable of rising higher – if only within their own mind.”

“Into The Violet Sky” is featured on the EP Empire Collapsed, alongside the tracks “Burning Plains”, “Your Eyes” and “Surrender”. Together, they form a narrative about the disintegration of systems – from global structures to the personal world – and the search for a way forward after the catastrophe.

The history of Burning Plains is a journey from 2008 garage-band grit to a conscious “reboot.” It all began in Dnipro, Ukraine, where a group of friends formed a band that played louder than the basements and small clubs would allow. It was an era of raw live shows where the vocalist would toss the mic into the crowd, and every performance was a blend of high-octane drive and total unpredictability. After a long hiatus – during which the music lived only in rough drafts and memories – the team returned in 2025. Today, Burning Plains combines that primal Dnipro energy with a massive, almost cinematic approach to metal.

“Into The Violet Sky” is a story of both the fall and the ascent. It is about that fleeting moment when faith vanishes, yet the internal strength to rise remains.
