JayDaReal: “Out The Mud” Ft. Quiless – stunning economy when crafting hooks

Smack in the middle of his growing career JayDaReal does it: He drops a nearly perfect song. Suddenly, it doesn’t matter what he has done before or what he is planning to do next. Blissed-out, sun-kissed chords shimmer like a mirage, JayDaReal voice sounds like he’s on vacation in Hawaii and it’s just skittery enough to make you throw back the last sip of your Lilikoi Passion and wind up on the dance floor. “Out The Mud” Ft. Quiless is musically as smooth and lyrically as scented as a Tropic tanning oil.

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who listen for lyrics, and those who listen for beats. If you belong to the latter group, then “Out The Mud” is your song. If you’re in the former, well, then JayDaReal is your man. It’s a win-win situation here.

Jonathan Perez aka JayDaReal is an American hip-hop recording artist from Manhattan, New York, who was raised in Middletown, OH most of his life. His rise in the music industry started with his single “Brand New” which was also included on his recent album “Realest In Zone6ix”. Jay saved up money since he was 16, for his own studio where he spends most of his time recording, and releases the majority of his songs via Soundcloud.

The best thing you can say about JayDaReal is that he is so versatile. That description suits his breathtaking nimbleness in switching between flows, intonations and genres; his fleet-footedness adapting to, and throwing away, passing trends; his ear for killer beats and his stunning economy when crafting hooks – singing irresistibly wounded melodies, and finding unlikely musicality in refrains. “Out The Mud” Ft. Quiless reveals moments of careful craftsmanship and ingenuity.

For stretches of “Out The Mud” he arranges his bars into sharp, familiar cadences and distinct melodies that sound like elevated echoes of past highs. Sometimes he elevates lyrical clichés through the sheer force of his delivery. Yet it is interesting to hear JayDaReal sound so comfortable on this track.

“Out The Mud” Ft. Quiless represents a great effort to move past the norm and exceed expectations, all without being loud or overwhelming, but at the same time maintaining groove, vibe and lyrical impact. And in this case scenario JayDaReal scores another outright winner with this track. With this one he puffs out his chest, taunts his rivals and totally outwits the mainstream industry.
